Virtual Exhibition 7:
Nature’s Pattern: Shapes of the Living World

We hope that Galeri Khazanah will be an avenue for the enduring appreciation of Malaysia’s artistic talents and to cultivate vibrant communities for Malaysians.

Khazanah Nasional Berhad (Khazanah) is pleased to present our virtual art gallery, named Galeri Khazanah. We are happy to share with all Malaysians, and visitors from around the world, the art pieces produced by Malaysian artists, stitching beautiful stories and narratives together. Our art pieces were acquired gradually since our inception in 1994, and the collection serves as a fragment of the nation’s institutional memory. continue…

Alongside other corporate custodians of the nation’s cultural assets for future generations, Galeri Khazanah aims to preserve and conserve these historical gems and to offer the global audience a glimpse of our cultural heritage through the perspective of Malaysian artists.

Through this digital platform, Galeri Khazanah strives to provide knowledge accessibility amid global demographic shifts and to cultivate heritage appreciation via the digitalisation of our artworks. This includes the process of taking inventory of physical artworks, scanning, and storing their data prior to showcasing them in thematic exhibitions.

We hope that Galeri Khazanah will be an avenue for the enduring appreciation of Malaysia’s artistic talents and to cultivate vibrant communities for Malaysians.

At Khazanah, the work that we do touches the lives of a wide range of people. Over the years, we have woven threads into Malaysia’s rich social fabric that in turn contribute towards the development of this nation of ours.

As part of our Advancing Malaysia strategy, we aim to build capacity and spur vibrant communities for the benefit of Malaysians, and we are proud to be a passionate advocate for the preservation, appreciation, and recognition of local arts, heritage, and culture.

This is reflected in our efforts in developing talents by providing opportunities for emerging Malaysian artists via the Khazanah Arts Residency, as well as various arts, heritage, and public spaces initiatives through our foundation, Yayasan Hasanah.

Together, we support the preservation of our artistic and cultural heritage in Advancing Malaysia that we can be proud of in the eyes of the world.

I am delighted to welcome you to the seventh edition of our Galeri Khazanah exhibition, Nature’s Pattern: Shapes of the Living World, which reflects on forms, rhythms, and patterns in nature and their enduring presence in artistic practice.

Art connects us to the world around – to places, memories, communities, and our environment. Beyond creative expression, it also reflects the stories, values, and shared experiences that shape national identity across generations. Bringing together artists across generations and disciplines, this exhibition explores our relationship with nature and the living world and the beauty that exists within it. The digital gallery will feature 40 artworks, with selected physical works also exhibited at Seri Negara.

At Khazanah, we believe nation-building extends beyond financial returns. As a purpose-driven, long-term investor, our responsibility is not only to help build a stronger economy, but also to strengthen the social and cultural foundations that enable Malaysia to thrive for generations to come. Preserving and celebrating our artistic and cultural heritage is therefore an important part of building a resilient, confident and forward-looking nation. This is also reflected in our broader efforts to revitalise iconic national landmarks such as Seri Negara, the Sultan Abdul Samad Building and Pejabat Pos Besar lama.

Over the years, Khazanah has assembled a meaningful collection of paintings, drawings, photographs, sculptures, and historical artefacts that serve as fragments of our nation’s memory. These treasures are preserved not just as objects, but as living legacies for our children and the generations that follow.

Yet preservation alone is not enough. Heritage achieves its greatest value when it is experienced, understood and shared. Galeri Khazanah was therefore created not simply to safeguard these collections, but to connect Malaysians with art, culture and heritage in ways that are more accessible, engaging and meaningful for people from all walks of life.

Since the launch of Galeri Khazanah’s first virtual exhibition in July 2022, the platform has continued to evolve as a space for cultural discovery, public engagement and shared learning. Through its digital experience, complemented by live activations, Galeri Khazanah is helping to expand access to Malaysian art and heritage by bringing culture beyond traditional gallery spaces and closer to wider audiences.

This journey is guided by three aspirations, to connect communities with art and heritage, deepen cultural appreciation through dialogue and knowledge-sharing, and strengthen Malaysia’s arts and heritage ecosystem through collaboration and partnerships. Through accessible digital and physical experiences, Galeri Khazanah is more than a virtual exhibition platform – it serves as a catalyst for learning, collaboration and cultural stewardship, creating deeper connections with the stories behind each work.

We warmly invite you to explore the Galeri Khazanah collection and discover how artists find meaning in the natural environment. We hope you enjoy the journey as much as we enjoyed bringing it to life for both Malaysians and international audiences.
