Haffendi Anuar is a Malaysian contemporary artist who is currently practising art full-time in the London, United Kingdom. A multi-disciplinary artist, Haffendi explores his subject matters that revolve around his personal encounters such as his environment, childhood memories, identity and cultural connotations expressed through a plethora of standard and unconventional materials and techniques from oil painting on canvas; sculptures made of Melamine tableware, cement, sand, puttyfilla, spray paint, enamel paint and varnish; to his recent installation comprised of Kain pelikat, hemming tape, eyelets, zinc washers, dyed canvas, oil, acrylic, spray-paint, thread, wood and screws; and more. He has participated in several international group exhibitions such as Notes from the Motherland at Aicon Contemporary in New York (2021); A Life Beyond Boundaries (The Geography of Belonging), curated by Loredana Pazzini-Paracciani at JWD Art Space, Bangkok (2021); A Good Line, A Good Line at A.I. Gallery, London (2021); SH/FT, No Show Space, London (2021); S.E.A Focus 2020, Singapore (2020); Empty Vase, curated by Lingzhi Zhuang at Gallery Vacancy, Shanghai (2019); and more. He obtained his Master of Fine Art from the Ruskin School of Art, University of Oxford, the UK in 2020; BA Honours from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London (2013); and BFA (Foundation) from Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, the US (2007). Haffendi Anuar is the recipient of Khazanah Art Residency Programme in 2018.
